Testing for Title Markup using the JAWS Screen Reader

Step 1: @title@ element information

Procedure

  1. Use the jaws insert-T key combination to read the title of the web page in Internet Explorer and Firefox

Step 2: @h1@ element information

Procedure

  1. Use the 1 key to directly navigate to the h1 headers on the page
    or
  2. use insert-F6 to bring up a lis of headers on the page, use cursor keys to finf the h1 elements
    You can use the Display options to limit the list to just h1 elements
  3. Make sure the page has both a title and h1 element
  4. Make sure that the h1 content is a sub set of the title content
  5. Make sure the title describes the content of the page, not just what website you are on
