Testing for Title Markup using the Firefox Accessibility Extension

Overview

Strengths

  • Tests for best practice markup patterns for creating accessible titles for web sites

Weakness

  • User must manual check the title to see if it accurately describes the content of the web page and how it differs from other resources within the web site

Step 1: Open Navigation Menu

Procedure

  1. Select the Navigation option from the from the toolbar and select the Title option
    or
  2. From the Accessibility Menu select open the Navigation sub menu
  3. From the navigation sub menu select the Title option

Step 2: View Title Information

Procedure

  1. The two text boxes show the content of the title element and the h1 elements respectively to make it easy to vew and compare the titling information.
  2. The error box will show any errors related to h1 content not being a subset of title content
