Testing for Title Markup using the AIS Web Accessibility Toolbar

Overview

Strengths

  • Provides an outline view of a web resources based on the title and header content on the web page

Weakness

  • Does not automatically warn the user when title or h1 elements are missing
  • Does note automatically warn when header content is not a substring of title content

Step 1: Select Outline View from Structure Button

Procedure

  1. Select the “Structure” button from the the toolbar
  2. Select the “Heading Structure” from the Structure pull down menu

Step 2: Title and Header Outline View

Procedure

  1. Using the outline make sure the page has both a title and h1 element
  2. Using the outline make sure the h1 content is a sub set of the title content
  3. Using the outline make sure the title describes both the website and sub page information
