All links, form controls and other interactive elements on the page must be able to receive keyboard focus (i.e. the TAB key on many browsers).

  • If an interactive element receives keyboard focus, it must allow keyboard focus to be moved to other interactive elements (i.e. the TAB key on many browsers).

The functions or actions of the links, form controls or other interactive elements must be operable with the keyboard.

  • For widgets like comboxes, trees, grids, sliders and many other types of controls that provide features beyond standard HTML links and form controls should follow the DHTML Style Guide

When a links, forms controls and other interactive elements receive focus their visual styling should change to make it easy to identify which element has focus

Requirement Notes

  • Styling must change in more than color, like having an outline border around the control with focus
  • :focus and :blur css psuedo elements can be used to provide CSS styling to elements that receive focus
